The medicinal garden contributes to the preservation and propagation of genetic material, particularly those plant species which have been used for traditional medicinal uses throughout Indonesia. This project leverages Socfindo’s world leading seed production, plant research facilities and agronomy know how, for the collection, planting and propagation of traditional herbs from across the Indonesian Archipelago. Along with its medicinal herb garden, Socfindo has created a publically available plant database. Socfindo’s goal is to teach people in the community to propagate these plants along with the traditional medicinal recipes and to use the gardens to connect young Indonesian’s to their plants, and to educate them on the importance of conservation and biodiversity.
