With its rich biodiversity and cultural diversity, Indonesia holds a rich and varied body of traditional knowledge about the use of plants for medicinal purposes. However, with modern lifestyles increasingly distancing people from nature-based societies and the rising use of Western medicine, much of this knowledge is no longer being passed down, only surviving in older generations. Tied to the loss of biodiversity, many of these traditional insights are at risk of vanishing with the passing of the elders.

A core part of the project is to collect and record these traditional remedies, preserving this unique heritage for future generations and building a database as a shared resource for communities and anyone interested in traditional medicinal knowledge.
