Aek Loba Allotment: Transforming Idle Land into a Source of Food and Well-Being

PT Socfin Indonesia continues to promote the well-being of employees’ families through the Aek Loba Allotment, an initiative that transforms unused land around division housing areas and the mill into productive food gardens. The program involves approximately 30 employee families who actively cultivate the land by growing a variety of vegetables, medicinal plants (TOGA), and other beneficial crops.
During the initial development phase, PT Socfindo provided the land as well as a wide range of seedlings to participating families. These included eggplant, spinach, chili peppers, cabbage, lettuce, peppermint, and various other food and herbal plants that are easy to cultivate and useful for daily household needs. This support served as a starting point for encouraging productive land use while promoting greater household food self-sufficiency.
Over time, these gardens have developed into a reliable source of fresh produce, helping families meet their daily nutritional needs. In addition to reducing household expenses, surplus harvests can be sold to generate additional income or shared with fellow employees and neighboring communities. Through the Aek Loba Allotment, PT Socfindo demonstrates how simple, community-based initiatives can strengthen food security, improve family welfare, and promote sustainable living practices among employees and their families.
