Elderly women from Desa Dame visited Socfindo Conservation

The Pandemic COVID-19 has made a big impact to human life style. People are more serious in taking care of their health and will consume something to improve their immunity. Ever since ancient times, many people have positive perceptions and believe in herbal medicine using medicinal plants. Treatment with medicinal plants is considered very safe as there is no or minimal side effects and these remedies are in sync with nature which is the biggest advantage.

A month ago, Socfindo Conservation received a visit from the elderly women of Dame Village, Kec. Dolok Masihul, who came to see the 1,500 species of medicinal plants that are planted here. Most of them already know some types of the medicinal plants and their uses which have been inherited from their families, but some of them were not, even though the plants have been planted around their garden.

Although they are not of a young age, it did not hinder their enthusiasm to learn about medicinal plants. This is an example for the younger generation that age is not a barrier to gaining knowledge. These women also attended the herbal medicine workshop facilitated by Socfindo Conservation.

They are very enthusiastic to know how to make herbal medicine from medicinal plants that may have been in their garden but lacked of knowledge. With the current situation and the advanced age factor, these women are more often active at home. Hopefully, by taking part in this herbal medicine workshop, they can apply it at home which will be useful for their health and their families.

The existence of medicinal plants that have various advantages makes us more confident to consume them due to their natural properties that can increase stamina and prolong life.
