Traditional remedies collected
With its wealth of bio and cultural diversity, Indonesia has a rich and varied traditional knowledge of using plants for medicinal purposes. However with modern lifestyles taking people further away from nature based societies and the increasing use of western medicine, much of this knowledge is no longer passed down remaining with the elder generations. As with its loss of biodiversity, much of this traditional knowledge is at danger of being lost, as elders pass on.
A core part of this project is to collect and record these traditional remedies, preserving this unique heritage for future generations and creating a database as a shared resource for the community and for anyone with an interest in traditional medicinal knowledge.
